We’re all familiar with the genre garage rock, the sub genre of rock n’ roll that started becoming popular in the 60′s when younger rock bands started jamming in their parent’s garages with a lack of a better rehearsing space. Similarly the genre garage punk also came in place in the mid 80′s and early 90′s, except it was punk and grunge music that was being played.

Today we are starting to see similar “low-budget” music projects arise and they are not coming from their parent’s garages, artists such as Toro y Moi and Wild Nothing are producing all their solo music projects in their home basement studios. I think it’s great that anyone with a computer can do their thing without having to spend too much money on studio time to get some demos out. On top of that we got music blogs like ourselves one to deliver independent music directly to listeners like yourself.

Take a good listen to Wild Nothing, his music is really really dope. He’s got that whole Chillwave/Glo-Fi thing going on that Toro Y Moi has been blowing up lately… only thing is you probably wanna listen to it through good speakers or headphones, most of his music is really dense in terms of sounds and samples, so it may sound very muddy over shitty computer speakers.
You can also listen to more of his stuff on his myspace, and if I were you I would bookmark it because I’m sure he will be coming out with more dope tracks in the future!
