You’re about 20 years off if you think Daft Punk pioneered electronic music, believe it or not the genre goes way back to the 70′s to a German group called Kraftwerk. It all started when Florian Schneider and Ralf Hütter decided to start their own music project shortly after their experimental quintet group called Organization split up. Kraftwerk was originally formed as an experimental rock group, their music included many non-electronic instruments, but as their music progressed synths and drum machines became the more prominent instrument of their compositions. The tracks I posted are from their seventh album called The Man-Machine recorded in 1978.
