The Kills – Blood Pressures
In April, The Kills released their fourth studio album “Blood Pressures”. Simply put, if you want to feel cool while listening to a great raw rock album, this is just the album for you! Like the first three albums from The Kills, “Blood Pressures” conveys angst and emotion with simple beats and riffs while somehow being just as compelling, if not more so, then the complicated musical arrangements of other Alt Rock bands.
The Kills may be just a two-piece, but the talents of Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince along with their track records show that they form one of the best Alt Rock bands around today. You may remember Mosshart as a member of Jack White’s band The Dead Weather in addition to working with other bands such as Primal Scream, Arctic Monkeys, and Placebo. Jamie Hince seems to be a musical genius when you look at his work within the Kills as he provides guitar, vocals, mellotron, drums, percussion, and even produced “Blood Pressures”.
I was lucky enough to see the Kills live at The Music Box in Hollywood a few months ago. I wasn’t too familiar with many of their songs at the time but they blew me away. I’d see them again in a heartbeat and I urge everyone to see them, even if you’re not a fan of them, because chances are after you see them live, you’ll become a fan instantly.
Mosshart and Hince are pure rock stars, in music and appearance. “Blood Pressures” is definitely one of the albums of the year, perfect for night time driving this summer. Check them out, you will not be disappointed!
