The Kooks – Junk Of The Heart
Having lived in the UK for a good ten years before moving to Canada, I’ve always had great appreciation for British music and it’s place in our history. Growing up listening to british legends such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who and The Kinks to name a few, when I started exploring a world outside of classic rock one of the first places I turned to was to the Brits.
From the moment I stumbled across The Kooks’ debut album Inside In/Inside Out back in 2005 and heard the likes of Seaside, She Moves In Her Own Way and Naive I knew i’d pretty much be a fan for life. Heavily influenced by the 1960s British invasion the band is fronted by lead vocalist Luke Pritchard who continued to please fans with the release of Konk in 2008.
Although we’ve heard little from The Kooks over the past year or so, the thought of a their third studio album being released on September 12th has gotten me and many other fans Kook crazy. Junk of the Heart, the new fourteen track album represents over two years of hard work since the band announced a new album in April 2009.
So far all three tracks i’ve heard off the new album (all below) have reached my expectations. If you haven’t heard Is It Me, The Saboteur and Junk of the Heart (Happy) be sure to check them out now.
