First off, I want to apologize to all our readers who have come back to the site over the past couple of days despite no new content. The truth of the matter is that everyone gets busy, including Nab and I. This summer has been a busy one for me and unfortunately ThisBonusTrack has been suffering a little bit because of that.Nevertheless, I promise we still deliver the goods as well as anyone else in the business.

Anyways enough of my blabbering, you came here for some good music. Today I want to share with you my two favourite tracks of the week which both happen to come from Stroked, Stereogum’s tribute to The Strokes’ debut  album Is This It. The album is a timepiece, sounding as good today as it did ten years ago.

I’ve got to hand to Stereogum for bringing together eleven great bands to recreate the album in its entirety. The Morning Benders have remained one my favourite artists since we started the blog last year. Appropriately the band’s cover of Last Night is definitely my favourite on Stroked. The other track I wanted to showcase is the title track itself, Is This It, covered by Peter Bjorn and John. I’ve you haven’t already done so, check out the tracks and give us some feedback.

The cover to “Someday” was butchered though sadly :(
Morning Bender’s cover was definitely unique, but it lacked that same energy that I felt the original had. But kudos to them for their take on it! It was different from their own music as well!
