French Canadian singer-songwriter Coeur De Pirate has made several appearances on ThisBonusTrack.com, although never as the featured artist. Most recently, although not so recent at all, Pooch wrote about Armistice, the Canadian duo comprised of Béatrice Martin of Coeur De Pirate and Jay Malinowski of Bedouin Soundclash.

Although Armistice is worth a good listen, I still prefer Béatrice Martin’s beautifully innocent voice, whether I can understand what she is saying or not (embarrassing for someone who took french for seven years).

Backed by a highly acclaimed self titled debut album back in 2008, high expectations surround her second studio album that is apparently in the works despite having no formal release date. In spite of uncertainty on that front, Béatrice Martin has not failed to keep her fans wanting more. This summer she released a beautiful bare boned cover of Wicked Games, a track made popular by Canadian R&B singer, The Weeknd. The song accompanied by a the music video are a must listen.
