Well it’s already the third week of school. Assignments, midterms and papers that were given to you at that first introductory lecture start to creep up and the reality that summer is over finally sinks in. Unfortunately for me as arts and humanities student, that means a hell of a lot of reading and late nights at the library.
If you’re wondering what this whole rant has to do with a song review, I hope you are pleasantly surprised. With a Roman History mid-term just around the corner, I spent my day immersed in an History Textbook, memorizing the names of ancient cities in the Italian Peninsula.
While looking through my iTunes to find a song to share with you, I came across History Book by Dry the River, which seemed to pretty much sum up my day. Although the song itself isn’t brand new, Dry the River is a band we’ve never featured, but is definitely worth talking about. Formed in East London, the five-piece folk group has a similar musical formula to Mumford and Sons whose songs often start out acoustically and finish strong and full of energy. If your a fan of the Local Natives, Mumford and Sons or James Vincent McMorrow, you owe it to your self to listen to Dry the River.

THE BONUS TRACK: New Ceremony is another Dry the River track that will have you craving the band’s debut album that we’ll hopefully see in 2012.

Midterms are never fun. But I do love these guys and I am so excited to get their new album next month! If you need a little distraction, you should check out their video for Weights & Measures. http://www.vevo.com/watch/dry-the-river/weights-measures/GB1101100739?source=ap
