I’m especially excited for this weeks edition of Throwback Thursdays as it features an artist that I’ve loved for years, but actually never had the opportunity to share with you on TBT.

Elliot Smith was an American born songwriter who despite being well received while he was still with us, battled depression, alcoholism and drug addiction before a controversial death at the age 34.

Although inspired by many great artists including Pink Floyd, Modest Mouse, Bob Dylan and The Beatles, I’d like to think that Smith and his five studio albums stand their own ground in music’s great history.

So whether your already an Elliot Smith fan or you’re just hearing about him for the first time, I’d invite you to listen to Waltz #2 (Xo) and Tomorrow Tomorrow, a couple of my favorite tracks off his 1998 album XO.
