M. Ward: Throwback Thursdays

If you’re like me at all, you can always find music to match the way you’re feeling. This week, for example was ridiculously long and exhausting. I had two mid-terms, work and on top of it my family is moving, so I had to pack up the last few years of my life and consolidate it into a hand full of boxes. Thankfully, one of my favorite artists, M.Ward has helped me through this time.

Those of you who are familiar with the artist know he is a very talented singer songwriter from Portland Oregon. His music is generally calm and catchy, a perfect combo for the end of hard day. M.Ward’s latest album, Hold Time, released just last year, featured a new happier and lighter side to the artist we hadn’t seen in his older albums. Though Hold Time (2009) is a must listen for M.Ward fans, it doesn’t seem to have those stand out songs featured on his earlier records. My favorite M.Ward tracks have come from his Transistor Radio (2005) and Post-War (2006). These albums are packed with those standout songs no found in Hold Time. If you know them, enjoy a blast from the past, and if you’re new to M.Ward, relax and enjoy.

THE BONUS TRACKS: When M.Ward isn’t singing solo, he accompanies the beautiful Zooey Deschanel as the “Him” in She & Him. Although I pretty much enjoy everything the duo comes up with, their cover of Smokey Robinson’s You Really Got A Hold of Me seemed like a pretty nice bonus track to share with you today!
