It marks the sign of a degree of certain music prestige to be known by your first name only – Prince, Bono, and, of course, Super Bowl queen Madonna. So perhaps, with their name, AlunaGeorge are getting a jump-start on what is soon to be a successful career. Made up of singer Aluna Francis and producer George Reid (bet you didn’t see that coming), the duo hails from London and produces electronic tracks laced with R&B, Pop, and effortless cool.

The newest single by the group, entitled “You Know You Like It”, is a sweetly sick bass-ridden track that perfectly showcases Francis’ accent-tinged subtlety beautiful vocals. It is ironic that the chorus includes the lyrics “you know you like it but it drives you insane” – it perfectly describes how I felt about the track since it has been continuously stuck in my head over the past couple of days. Their forthcoming EP, to be released in March, has already received high praises from Dazed & Confused magazine – perhaps proving AlunaGeorge is worthy of the one-name status after all.
