Jack White – Blunderbuss

With yesterday’s release of the new Jack White album “Blunderbuss“, we’ve been introduced to the solo career of Jack White.  From “The White Stripes” to “The Raconteurs” and “The Dead Weather” Jack has done it all.  He’s now truly a “Jack of All Trades”.

This album, being Jack White’s first full-length solo album, is a great start to the beginning of his solo career.  Its a great blend of his signature “Garage Rock” sound displayed more in “The White Stripes” and the more bluesy side of him.  This album reminds me of his days in “The Raconteurs” as its packed with blues and soul. Blunderbuss’ songs are filled with bruised and blue lyrics that are believed to be inspired by his recent divorce from his wife of six years, Karen Elson.  That being said, the album is nothing short of what you’d expect from Jack White.  Songs like the bluesy and up-beat “Trash Tongue Talker” are filled with raw, punchy, overdriven guitar riffs and piano accents whereas songs like “Hypocritical Kiss” and “Blunderbuss” are beautifully arranged with glissandro piano phrasing and acoustic guitars.

Three tracks to definitely give a listen are “Trash Tongue Talker“, “I’m Shakin‘”, and “Blunderbuss“.  A perfectly diverse album to start off the summer.
