released by The Family Records in celebration of Record Store Day, an internationally-celebrated event that brings together artists and fans in April of every year. The mixtape includes a variety of songs covered by Wakey!Wakey!, and wanting more, I decided to embark on a search for some other music released by different artists on this day. The Indie Rock Cafe Podcast helped in my search… on their channel they featured a bunch of unique indie songs recorded specifically for Record Store Day, and from all of them, one particular song stood out to me the most. Called “Skirts on Fire” by country/folk band Blitzen Trapper, the tune is perfect for those upcoming summer days; and while I am not the biggest country fan, this track has more of an upbeat indie sound to it that is very appealing to me.
