Dante Kinnunen, or better known by his stage name Dante, has unearthed my wandering soul. Based in Stockholm, current drummer of the Swedish indie band, The Concretes, (and my new beloved artist of the month), recently kicked off his solo career this past year with release of his debut EP, “Next To You.” Inspired heavily by Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, and a wide range of reggae music, Dante flawlessly charms the globe with his beautiful voice and enticing melodies, delivering a unique sound of indie pop infused with a lil’ R&B and soul influence.
Covering Clarence Carter’s 1973 hit, “Next To You,” Dante’s first single is sure to impress. Adding a synth-y vibe, slapping beat, and smooth, polished vocals to the mix, “Next To You,” will carry you to a state of tranquility and leave you yearning for more. With sounds similar to Phil Collins, and a voice so liquid and divine, Dante definitely gets all the ladies. Now, somebody just needs to remix this song and I will be complete.
