Azealia Banks is one Bad@$$ B*tch. Listen to her voice and her beats… it just reeks of swagger. Real tough independent woman swagger. It makes me wonder why I never decided to become a rapper. If you don’t believe me, here is a preview of her lyrics (some of my favourite lines):
I’m f****ing with you, cutie-q
What’s your d*** like homie, what are you into, what’s the run, dude?
Where do you wake up? Tell your b*tch keep hating, I’m the new one too, huh?
See, I remember you when you were
The young new face, but you do like to slumber, don’t you?
Now your boo up too, hon.
I’m-a ruin you, c***
Banks, an American rapper from Harlem, NY, recently topped NME’s “Cool List” for 2011. With the release of “212” ft. Lazy Jay in December 2011 and the release of her new track “Jumanji” a few weeks ago, Azealia is set to take over the music world. She delivers that hardcore, booty-bumping, beats-pounding dirty rap; the kind of rap you listen to on public transit while you smile politely at the old lady across from you, as she has no clue to the foul stuff being blasted into your ears at that moment.
Inspired by other Bad@$$ B’s like Lil Kim, Eve, M.I.A., Santigold, Aaliyah and Destiny’s Child, Azealia demonstrates her talents in both rapping and singing and her creativity in lyrical writing. Kanye West has even branded her as “the new face of rap,” and my goodness I would love to hear a collaboration between the two. Her new mixtape, “Fantastic,” is out on July 4th, 2012. If you haven’t heard of this chick, you definitely need to get with the times and check her out.
