While Catey Shaw might not be a new name to you, it was only a couple weeks ago that I stumbled across her pleasantly addicting track, Family while listening to the June 2013 Mixtape on did.youhearthenew.com (another great resource for all you new music lovers).
Catey Shaw (aged 21) is a multi-talented artist who currently attends the School of Visual Arts in NYC as a painter. While I want to showcase her talent as an up-and-coming singer songwriter, it is worth highlighting that her original painting entitled “Clouds” is the cover art for her debut EP of the same title (seen above).
In my opinion, Shaw’s Clouds EP (5 tracks) sets the stage for what will be successful music career. Musically defined by beautiful vocals and the easy listening sounds of the ukulele, I’d urge any singer-songwriter lover to check it out.
Take a couple minutes now to listen to Family, which I still can’t get out of my head. And if you feel inclined, visit CateyShaw.com to purchase the EP and support this emerging American song-writing talent.
The Bonus Track: Chances are most of you have heard The Mowglis’s summer track, San Francisco but we’ve never featured it on TBT, so here it is. Enjoy.
