There is something familiar about Matthew Moon’s new album I am the Wind.
It reminds you of the days when singers had beautiful voices and songs had melodies. but in no way is it retro sounding. So thats why its hard to pinpoint exactly what genre it falls into.
I’ve been a fan for a while for that reason. Moon can sing anything from cowboy indie hipster pop to true rock and roll. In much the same way as his voice, his profoundly simple lyrics are a combo of heart wrenching honest corny romantic to spiritually transcendent.
You actually find yourself singing along in that embarrassingly life affirming way like yeah! I get it, I’m moving on and I’m happy about it.
The title track of the album I Am the wind has a other worldly introspective anthemy feel about transcending from love/pain to self acceptance…uh isn’t that what we all want after it all folks.
The influence of the Peruvian genesis of his this album and his relationship to other spiritual traditions is front and center of tracks like Back to the Beginning and Rivers and Mountainsides.
Actually there is a lot of gorgeous back ups from a amazing array of super talented singers and guest musicians and having the CSO (Colorado Symphony Orchestra) doesn’t hurt to make the tracks —liltingly ethereal.
With his amazing vocal range, devastatingly good looks and prolific songwriting ability Matthew Moon could really be a big star. The album, I Am The Wind reverberates with integrity with songs that write from the inside out. Check Moon his super chill new album on MatthewMoon.com or click here to buy it on iTunes.
